On June 26, 2025, the city of Bilbao will host the IV BAIDATA Forum — a key meeting point for experts, companies, and public organizations working on the development of sovereign and trusted data spaces in Europe. The event, organized by BAIDATA, promoted by Innovalia, and with IDSA, Bizkaia Lantik y GAIA as collaborators, served as a platform to share progress on data interoperability, open standards, and digital governance strategies.
During the event, the Catena-X National Competence Centre, driven by Innovalia, will play a prominent role as the representative of the national implementation of the Catena-X ecosystem, focused on the automotive value chain. The Spanish Centre’s contribution will highlight:
-
How Catena-X principles are being adapted to meet the needs of industrial SMEs in Spain.
-
Real use cases on component traceability, secure data exchange between suppliers, and process digitalization.
-
The importance of active participation by regional Hubs in deploying a federated data infrastructure.
Another key highlight will be the joint session with members of ARENA2036, emphasizing transnational collaboration with the German Hub and its integration with the open-source community Eclipse Tractus-X as the technological foundation of reference.
In addition, several pilot initiatives will be develop in Spain, including:
-
The integration of quality data across the supply chain.
-
Data-sharing models with legal and technical frameworks based on smart contracts.
-
Onboarding tools for new participants joining the ecosystem.
The forum will bring together over 200 in-person participants and a wide online audience. Its collaborative atmosphere will foster synergies between Catena-X and other initiatives such as Manufacturing-X, EDIHs, and European industrial digitalization programs.
The National Competence Centre also will take the opportunity to announce upcoming joint activities with other European countries and promote the creation of new national and cross-sector data spaces.
Participation in the IV BAIDATA Forum reinforces the strategic position of the Catena-X National Competence Centre as a key actor in the deployment of European standards for interoperability and digital sovereignty, aligning Spain with Europe’s technological priorities for the next decade.
