The International Manufacturing-X Council (IMXC) presented at the SPS 2025 trade fair in Nuremberg its first major international Showcase on how to make industrial data work with confidence, from the device to the cloud and across the entire supply chain.

The IMXC is made up of organisations from 13 countries (including Spain) and their main national programmes in the field of data and industrial digitalisation. They all share a common goal: to build open, federated and sovereign data ecosystems, ready for the next generation of industrial AI solutions.

What was demonstrated in the IMXC Showcase?

At the joint IMXC booth at SPS 2025, three key scenarios were presented, with participation from manufacturers, technology providers and competence centres:

    • Vertical data integration at the Edge:How to collect production data from the shop floor using interoperable edge solutions and publish it into industrial data spaces using standards such as AAS and OPC UA.
    • Horizontal integration for the Digital Product Passport (DPP): A battery Digital Product Passport that is continuously enriched with data from multiple companies and countries (Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, USA) to dynamically calculate the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) and the state of health throughout the lifecycle.
    • Federated Trust services: A model of identities and verifiable credentials operated by different national Trust Service Providers, based on the Gaia-X Trust Framework, enabling automatic and secure validation of who accesses which data in these federated spaces.

Why is this so relevant for industry?

The IMXC Showcase proves that it is possible to:

    • Exchange industrial data in a standardised, secure and sovereign way between countries and ecosystems,
    • Reduce the integration effort between supply chain partners,
    • Accelerate strategic use cases such as DPP, sustainability and AI-driven optimisation in manufacturing.

Innovalia, through the Catena-X Competence Center in Spain, provides several of the federated trust services in the showcase, helping to position Spanish industry within this international architecture of interoperable and trustworthy industrial data.

The demonstrator will continue to evolve after SPS 2025 in the run-up to Hannover Messe 2026, consolidating a real foundation for future federated industrial data spaces on a global scale.
